… A Happy Blend of Two Cultures …


An important dimension of Sans Souci is the Centre's completely bilingual atmosphere. The Sans Souci camper population is approximately half francophone and half anglophone, giving all campers an excellent opportunity to learn a second language. The campers are immersed in a bilingual program and have opportunities during their day to practise speaking their second language with their peers and the staff. Many activities require that the campers use their second language skills in a fun and practical way. For example, campers practise their reading and writing skills in their second language by completing a bilingual exercise book. The exercises in the book relate to horsemanship topics and so campers are able to improve their second language skills while learning more about horse care. Long time campers have said that while at camp, their second language skills have greatly improved.
